Between 9-11th October the 13th edition of the science festival took place at Fyrishov, with workshops, lectures, competitions, and experiments organized by a wide range of faculties from Uppsala University and SLU.
For the second year, Sara Camiolo from the PredPeat project joined the colleagues from Climes to explore the topic of climate extremes with schools and general public. Many students and families stopped by and tried our visual and tactile experiment with sand, clay, peat, moss and flood simulation. Observing how water infiltrated through different types of soil was the starting point for many reflections on how these soils, especially peatlands, can play an important role in flood and drough mitigation. See you at the next SciFest for more discussion on science and peatlands!
